I have a 14 year old son that will do nothing but play LOL. I want to block the game at my router. I tried blocking the URL, but that does not seem to work. Does anyone have any other ideas?
It"s been downloaded onto one of your computers. You have to first uninstall the game from your computer and then block the website so it can"t be redownloaded, at least not from your internet IP.

no - you have to uninstall it. go to control panel, programs, then find it in the list and uninstall it.
Have you checked out programs like Covenant Eyes? I"ve not used it but believe it claims to block websites. I don"t know if that would include LOL, but worth inquiring. My son was playing that game excessively...very addicting. Wishing you all the best!
Can"t be done by blocking website. Once a game like LoL (League of Legends) is downloaded, anytime you want to play it you hit the play button on the game - you never have to go to a website to play it. You can by blocking the game"s servers in the router per below but some are saying kids can find ways around that if they or their friend"s are IT savvy - this is from google search showing another parent asking the same question as you have and the responses http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2119159
"I would just block the game server IP ranges rather than individual ports:
The only reason for a connection from your network to these IP"s would be to play lol
The only way around it would be a VPN type solution, but this will likely increase latency and it will suck :P"
Given the number of ex gamers in this fellowship, they can tell you more, but this is what I know/have found.

I have a similar problem.
I have a similar problem. What I am going to do ASAP is give my account away. With my only request being for him to change the password.
Hope this helps

Its easier and less
Its easier and less problematic to uninstall the game and block the website, blocking the servers can block some servers you use for work or sites you like to vizit.

As others have suggested,
As others have suggested, just uninstall it from the computer. Make sure that the client installer is also permanently deleted. It may still be sitting on the downloads folder or TEMP folder. Lastly block the League of Legends website.
